Get Involved
Students have always been an integral part of our community and made an essential contribution to church life.   If you’re studying in Birmingham and looking for a church to be part of we would love to welcome you.

The key to feeling at home is getting to know people, and by far the best way to do that is to get involved.  Students get involved in many of the activities from Sunday teams such as hosting, media, youth and children, to serving the poor, healing on the streets and community events.

“I’ve definitely felt more involved since being a helper in Kids Church – not only through meeting the other leaders, but also through getting alongside the children and their parents.” (Becky)

Small Groups
Some students choose to be part of a small group on their campus and others prefer to break out of the student ‘bubble’ and join a regular church group where they’ll mix with people of different ages and stages.  There’s no hard and fast rule about which type of group you join, but we simply encourage you to be in a group where you can make friends and be challenged to grow. We have loads of cell groups located in different parts of the city.  Read more here.

“I felt really at home and everybody was so welcoming. I visited lots of other churches in Birmingham where everything was aimed just for students, but I’m surrounded by students everyday and so really value being with families on a Sunday.” (Daniella)

We don’t have a specific student group, but instead we encourage students to connect by joining a cell group, getting involved in a service team and giving regularly.

Student Welcome Meals: October & November 2009
This Autumn folks from the church will be opening their homes to host students for one off meals during the first few weeks of term.  This is a great opportunity to experience home cooking, get to know some local people, and find out a bit more about the church and the city.  It’s absolutely free and you can sign up at any service by speaking to Keely Bateson.

Student Weekend Away: 20-22 November
This year for the first time we’re organising a student weekend away to help new and existing students get to know each other better.  Click here for more details.
