“I had heard of the Vineyard Church and Sam said he had visited and it was great, so I went along the next week and it was!”
What made you decide to stay?
The things that really stuck out to me compared to other churches I looked at were how friendly and welcoming everyone was, the quality of the teaching and worship and the amount of mission and outreach stuff the church is involved in. These things really excited me. I felt being part of the church challenged me in my relationship with God and my outward expression of that, and I knew I wanted to be in a place which challenged me so I stayed!
How did you get more involved?
I have been doing Discovery Zone with 10 – 11 year olds for two terms and this term have been volunteering 3 days a week with Urban Devotion, a charity I got to know about through the church, which works with youth in Perry Common.
How has that affected your relationship with God?
It is such a privilege to serve the children and working with them keeps me humble! Being given an opportunity to serve has grown my relationship with God so much I don’t think I could even describe it all properly. I haven’t really had time to process it yet but it has definitely challenged and grown my prayer life, put me out of my comfort zone in serving him, and Gods used it to show me an example of the stuff he wants me to do when I graduate!
What are you excited about in the life of the church?
Oooh so much! Mission, community and discipleship are probably the top three (in no particular order!!
