Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a debt relief centre that offers a unique combination of excellent debt advice, practical support and friendship and gives the church an amazing opportunity to take seriously Jesus’ commands to care for the poor.
The centre is dependant on the dedication of a growing team of individuals and cells who pray, befriend, and offer practical help to the people who are referred to us. The centre is managed by Mark Woolnough who visits each client in their home, taking along the befriender from church, and works with them through the process of sorting out their debt.
“Many of the clients we meet are women who have been left by their husbands, often in awful circumstances. As well as needing help with their finances what they really need is the hope and new life that only Jesus can bring.”
We believe that if we show God’s love to people, and support them in their hardship, that God will come in and bring transformation and hope into their lives.
