Our Story
The Vineyard Church in Birmingham started as a small home group meeting in Halesowen in 1989. This group grew steadily and developed more small groups in various communities across the city. Since these small beginnings we have developed into a large vibrant community made up of people from different backgrounds, ages and cultures. We are united by a common purpose to worship God, follow Jesus and live out our Christian faith by being a positive influence in our city.
In 2004, we purchased Network House - a building in the Digbeth area to develop a central base and in May 2006, we moved our main Sunday service into St. Martins Church next to Birmingham’s famous Bullring Shopping Centre.
Over the last few years we have been part of a developing network of small groups and congregations across the city which had meant changing our name from South Birmingham Vineyard to vineyard network church birmingham.
At different times, we have written up our story in more detailed documents which you can download here:-
our story part 1 was written in July 2003 and mainly covers the history of South Birmingham Vineyard over the previous 10 years.
our story part 2 was written in May 2006 and looks at why we moved to the city centre and some of our journey towards becoming a network church.
In preparation for our move to Network House we produced a booklet called ‘Growing and Building’ which outlines the vision for the church and what we feel God is calling us to in the next season of growth. To download a pdf of the booklet click here.
